Magnolia 'Dude’s Brother'

Magnolia sprengeri x (Magnolia x soulangeana 'Picture')

The fragrant flowers resemble those of Magnolia 'Hot Lips' but appear later, are a bit smaller and slightly darker. The plant blooms for 4-6 weeks, with a peak around the end of March to early April. It is a sister seedling of the known cultivar 'Big Dude', which explains the name. The numerous spectacular fruits in autumn are an additional interesting feature. However, this selection does not seem to be a real improvement compared to existing cultivars in this segment.
