Magnolia 'Green Snow'

(Magnolia 'Woodsman' x 'Lennei') x Magnolia 'Elizabeth'

A cross made by Dr. August Kehr (USA in 1992), cultivated and selected by Philippe de Spoelberch at the Arboretum. This strong tree is a sister seedling of Magnolia 'Banana Split' and has spectacular floppy flowers that appear in May right before the leaves. The white flowers have 8 to 9 tepals, of which the outer ones are marbled green. Recent, better selections have rendered this cultivar somewhat superfluous.
