Magnolia 'Daphne'
Magnolia acuminata var. subcordata 'Miss Honeybee' x Magnolia 'Gold Crown'
A cross made by Dr. August Kehr (USA in 1992), cultivated and selected by Philippe de Spoelberch at the Arboretum. The deep yellow upright flowers bloom quite late (April – May) and form a beautiful contrast with the small dark green leaves. It is a small, rather compact tree, 5 to 8 m high. Magnolia 'Daphne' received an Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society and is widely regarded as one of the best yellow-flowering Magnolias.
