Magnolia 'Anilou'
A cross made by Dr. August Kehr (USA in 1992), cultivated and selected by Philippe de Spoelberch at the Arboretum. This cultivar, originated from the cross Magnolia acuminata x Magnolia 'Elizabeth', is an upright tree with deep yellow flowers, which appear together with the leaves. The outer tepals show shades of green. The flowering period lasts more than a month and usually starts mid-April. The selection was named in memory of Anilou de Spoelberch, one of Philippe de Spoelberch’s sisters.
