Magnolia 'Lemon Star'

Magnolia acuminata x Magnolia kobus 'Norman Gould'

A cross made by Dr. August Kehr (USA in 1992), cultivated and selected by Philippe de Spoelberch at the Arboretum. This tree owes its name to its color reminding us of lemon ice cream, and its flower with 6 tepals opening to full extent and hereby showing its heart. The flowers sprout yellow-green, then turn yellow and finally fade to creamy white. They form a nice contrast with the leaves, appearing at the same time.
