Arboretum Wespelaar is OPEN again on Wednesdays and Sundays from 10am to 5pm, until Wednesday, November 13th. Groups are also welcome on other days on request (with guide). For more practical informations, please go to "Contact and visits".

The Arboretum has suffered from the drought: the grass is brown and some trees and shrubs look like autumn has already started. Especially Stewartia pseudocamellia did not cope well with the heat and drought: the leaves are burned. Thankfully some other trees and shrubs seem to thrive well under these circumstances. On the courtyard Lagerstroemia x egolfii 'Muskogee' is flowering. The light pink flowers in terminal inflorescences have beautiful wrinkled petals. Koelreuteria paniculata is showing its big papery lantern-shaped capsules in the middle of the Magnolia Meadow (plot 210). In the Marnef Wood, Hydrangea paniculata 'Brussels’ Lace' is flowering beautifully in plot 119. This selection comes from a seedling from Hydrangea paniculata 'Unique', and, just like 'Unique', was selected and cultivated by Robert and Jelena de Belder (Arboretum Kalmthout).

This leaflet will guide you around in the Arboretum (also available at the reception).
